What RIM finishes are available?
RIM parts offer designers many options for color, texture, and other finishing features.

Class A "smooth"
Smooth, glossy, post mold painted surfaces are possible but costly. Special mold surface detail plus painting techniques and equipment are required.

Post-mold painted, class A, "textured"
Most laboratory equipment parts receive a specified paint color and texture as a post mold applied coating.

In-Mold coating
Polyurethane based paint is sprayed onto the mold surfaces and molecularly bonds with the injected polyurethane mixture. This bonding produces a hard, color fast surface that on certain substrates, such as that used for Rimwood, can carry a ten year warranty.

No finishing
While the natural color of polyurethane is a bright yellow, pigments can be added to achieve the desired molded-in color throughout the part. Depending on the tool surface treatment, a part can be molded with a glossy smooth or textured semi-gloss finish.

EMI shielding
A shielding of nickel or copper based EMI/RFI coating can be added to specified surfaces.

Decals, silk-screening, pad printing
It is common practice to add logos or decorations via decals, silk-screening or printing.
