| Osmotek, Inc.
has developed a proprietary membrane process which treats
landfill leachate on-site at municipal or industrial
landfills. The technology produces clean water for
discharge and concentrated leachate for treatment by a
POTW or solidification for return to the landfill.
Discharge water meets NPDES standards. After competing with other leachate treatment techniques in extensive pilot testing, Osmotek technology was selected to be installed by Valley Landfills at their Coffin Butte site in western Oregon. The pilot testing was managed and reviewed by CH2M Hill, hired as a consultant by Valley Landfills. In head-to-head competition, the Osmotek system outperformed competitive technologies in cost, performance, reliability and leachate volume reduction. Greater volume reduction means more of the leachate is discharged as clean water, providing significant savings.The Valley Landfills system has been operational since July 1998. Cost to treat leachate will vary, depending on makeup of the feed stream and method of concentrate disposal. Osmotek will work with customers to develop the best treatment strategy for any site and help arrange lease contracts of BOOM (Build, Own, Operate and Maintain) packages. Osmotek provides membrane components, system design and process engineering. We work with subcontractors for infrastructure design and in building and installing treatment systems.
